Archbishop Paulos Mfunwa Nzuza (uMqalisi)

The Church of the Holy Ghost was founded on June 17, 1917 by the spiritual leader, Archbishop Paulos Mfunwa Nzuza (uMqalisi) in Stanger, KwaZulu-Natal.
The church has now massively expanded, with branches in areas such as: Mpumalanga, Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Limpopo, North West, Swaziland and Mozambique.
During uMqalis’s leadership, the church built a community school in Hammersdale called Peaceville Community School. He founded two major missions in his lifetime named Jerusalem (in the 1930’s) and Peaceville Mission (in 1946).
UMqalisi led the church for 42 years and passed away on June 17, 1959.
